This year (2012) Ethan's Run will be partnering with The Nick and Kelly Childrens Heart Fund. This fund is a component of the Arizona Community Foundation.
The Heart Fund has been helping families since 1985, is not specific to one hospital, and is able to help cardiac children and families throughout Arizona.
About Congenital Heart Defects
· Congenital heart defects are the most common birth defect and are the number one cause of death from birth defects during the first year of life. Anyone can have a child with a congenital heart defect.
· Out of 1,000 births, nine babies will have some form of congenital heart disorder, many of which are mild defects.
· Nearly twice as many children die from congenital heart disease in the United States each year as die from all forms of childhood cancers combined.
